Course Outline
Grade 9 Course Outline
Welcome to Foods class. In this course, you will be learning about safety, the role of ingredients, cooking preparation, and nutrition based on the Canada Food Guide. You will also investigate the social and cultural aspects of food through the exploration of the culinary contributions of various ethnic groups. The year-long grade 9s will then use that information to create a mobile food serving venue, with a focus on GMO foods.
There is one home cooking assignment due in December. We will discuss this in further detail in class. Students will also learn/review basic sewing techniques.
Please come to class prepared everyday. This includes being to class on time, and being cooperative, and responsible. Irresponsible behavior will not be tolerated and will result in the loss of cooking privileges.
