Machine Sewing Basics

Welcome to Sewing class. In this course you will be learning about sewing machine operation and maintenance, pressing, sewing terminology, fabric types and construction, pattern layout & terminology, and basic sewing techniques.
As part of your mark you must complete a sewing sample, a mini project, and a final project.

Materials needed for the course include:

• a black or white spool of thread for sample and mini project
• Fabric and notions for the final project (details will be sent home at a later date)

All other supplies such as patterns, seam rippers, pin cushions, measuring tapes, bobbins, pins, etc. will be available in class for student use.

You need to come to class prepared every day. Each student will be expected to work as effectively as possible. This includes being to class on time, and being cooperative, and responsible. Irresponsible behavior will not be tolerated and will result in the loss of sewing machine privileges.
